Sofa
Francesco Binfare, 2008
Edra, Italy
A hollow frame filled with large soft cushions filled with kapok, the silky plant fibre, Sofa is a creation reminiscent of the primitive couches that furnished Mongolian tents. Sofa's essential, uncluttered form and invitingly soft cushions is the essence of comfort. As the embodiment of a mental image, Sofa is an example of bourgeois creature comforts seemingly lifted from the tents strewn with skins and carpets inhabited by nomadic peoples in the lands of "the crescent moon".
