Eames® Molded Plywood Lounge Chair

Charles and Ray Eames, 1946
Herman Miller®, U.S.A.

Designers Charles and Ray Eames established their long and legendary relationship with Herman Miller® in 1946 with their boldly original molded plywood chairs. The aesthetic integrity, enduring charm, and comfort of the chairs earned them recognition from Time magazine as The Best Design of the 20th Century. Time called the design "something elegant, light and comfortable. Much copied but never bettered." The chairs work just about anywhere—from homes and offices to schools and public areas.

Molding thin sheets of lightweight veneer into gently curved shapes gives the durable material a soft, inviting appearance. With chrome-plated steel or matching plywood legs, the seat and back are available in walnut, natural cherry, red stained ash, ebony stained ash, white ash, and the exotic santos palisander veneers.

Herman Miller® has now reintroduced the upholstered version of Eames' classic plywood chair. Originally available from 1948 to 1953, this upholstered version of Charles and Ray Eames’ molded plywood chair introduces a soft touch and dash of color to the classic design.
