Belloch Chair
Lagranja Design Studio, 2009
Santa & Cole, Spain
Commissioned by Santa and Cole from the Lagranja Studio, the Belloch chair needed to be be inexpensive, stackable, easy to transport, durable enough for everyday use, and use clean construction methods. The result was a very stylish chair evoking mid-century design, while addressing very topical concerns for the environment. 100% recycled, and recyclable, the Belloch Chair uses a special mix of 60% recycled polyproylene from post-consumer plastic waste, and 40% recycled wood dust from sawmills to form its seat and back structure. Ultraviolet light stabilizers lengthen its working life, and prevent the material from degrading in outdoor environments. The legs are constructed from natural beech wood for indoor use, or anodized aluminum legs for outdoor use. At the end of its working life, both the seat, back, and legs can be recycled.
