Eames® Molded Plastic Chairs
Charles and Ray Eames, 1948
Herman Miller®, U.S.A.
The first plastic chair to be mass produced, Charles and Ray Eames' molded plastic chairs exploited the unique characteristics of the material to create an organic form previously unseen in industrially produced furniture. The arm or armless plastic shells are available in red, lime green, white, light blue, and black, and the base comes in polished chrome Eiffel, 4-leg base, or the newly re-introduced wood dowel-base with black wire. As of Spring 2010, Herman Miller introduces 5 new colours: aqua sky, java, wafer, greystone, and sparrow.
